Nikita Nikolayevich Moiseyev (Russian: Никита Николаевич Моисеев) (23 August 1917 – 29 February 2000) was a prominent Russian mathematician, full member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (later of Russia) and Academican of the International Academy of Science..
His fields of study included applied mathematics, solid state dynamics in liquids, systems analysis, control of the
artificial space objects, dynamics of biosphere and its stability . N.N. Moiseev organized the Russian Section of Green Cross International and became its first President. Nominating him for 1994 Global 500 Roll of Honour UNEP stated: "He is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, whose spectrum of interests and activities brought him from computing military missile trajectories to mathematical modelling of the pernicious effects of a large scale nuclear war, to his current involvement in environmental activities aimed at protecting future generations."

Russian Section

Russian Section of IAS-ICSD was established in 1993 in Moscow. Outstanding Russian scientists have been its members. On the cradle of founding of Russian Section of IAS scientists like N.G. Basov, N.N. Moiseyev, V.I. Pokrovsky, A.I. Prokhorov, K.V. Sudakov, N.P. Laverov, F.I. Komarov were involved.

At present RS/IAS has more than 430 honorary members, academics and associative members from the Russian Federation and CIS and 16 foreign members.

The Russian Section of the International Academy of Science, according to its Charter, consists of academics, associated members, honorary and collective members elected at the Meetings of Directorate of RS. Decisions of Directorate of RS/IAS are approved by Presidium of IAS.

Scientists and workers of education who contributed a lot to the solution of present-day common to all mankind problems, actively engaged in scientific or creative work, who have academic status of professor, who acknowledge the Charter of the IAS and actively participate in the activities carried on under the aegis of RS/IAS, promoting its international authority, can be elected as academics.

As associative member of RS/IAS can be elected scientists who have personal achievements in their own field of science, who have Master or Doctor degree, who acknowledge the Charter of IAS and are ready to contribute to the development of international cooperation of scientists and creative workers under the aegis of RS/IAS.

As collective members of RS/IAS can be elected research and educational institutions, laboratories and organizations, the results of which are of significance in solution of global problems of human and nature co-evolution and have been recognized in the world.

Members of RS/IAS have priority in realization of joint scientific and applied projects under the aegis of IAS, in getting current information and periodicals, representation in RS/IAS at sessions, symposia and conferences, founding of scientific institutions and scientific centers in different domains of science and education.

Many organizations of collective members have branches in Russia and abroad. Members of RS/IAS annually publish dozens of books, monographs, handbooks issued in different countries and papers in competent scientific journals.

Many members of RS/IAS have high national and international merits, awards and prizes.

The Russian Section of IAS has close scientific and business relations with large-scale state and public organizations in Russia and abroad. Among them: International Academy of Creative Endevours, International Academy of Natural sciences, Russian Academy of Medical sciences, Russian Academy of Education, International Academy of Higher School Science, Russian Ecological Academy, Academy of Noosphere, Academy of Juvenology, International Academy of Communications and others.

The present state of affairs, organizational potentials

At present the Russian Section of IAS (RS/IAS) counts more than 470 full members _ academics, honorary academics, foreign members, associative members. 14 new members were admitted in 2006. Due to a multiple-discipline character of the scientific problems developed by the scientists the Russian Section has four separate divisions: ecological (founded in 1997), medico-biological (founded in 1999), physicotechnical (founded in 2004) and humanitarian (founded in May, 2006). Within the RS/IAS there is a Dagestan subdivision under the leadership of academic of RS/IAS professor Omarov Sh.M., which is rather active.

34 organizations have been officially registered as collective members of RS/IAS. In 2006 Moscow Regional Center of Perinatology was affiliated as a collective member of RS/IAS (Head, Ermilov Yu. N.)

RS/IAS is actively collaborating with the Academy of Natural sciences (President, Kuznetsov O.L.), International Academy of Creative Endeavors (President, Gladishev G.P.), International Confederation of Sport Organizations (President, Rogatin B.N.), All-Russian Social Movement "Orthodox Russia" (Chair of the Central Council, Burkin A.I.) and others.

The results of the activity of the RS/IAS are regularly published in J. "Herald of RS/IAS", "Medical Market", "Herald of New Medical Technologies (in Tula), " Poisk", "Medical Newspaper", "Knowledge, Understanding, Skills", "Herald of Ecologo-pedagogical Education", "Herald of Ecological Education in Russia", "Ecopedagogica", "Lazur", "Pedagogical News" of A.I. Hertzen Russian State Pedagogical University and others. The site of the RS/IAS in Internet: www.rsias.nm.ru, www.rsias.ru is also developing.

Awards and Grants

One of the key functions of the RS/IAS is the support of perspective scientific initiatives, scientific schools and young scientists in the structure of IAS and its regional and national subdivisions.

In 1998 on the initiative of Presidium IAS and Directorate of the RS/IAS a Promotional Grant-Stipendium of IAS (RS) for young scientists of Russia and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) was instituted. In 1999 the project was supported by Professor Basov N.G., a Nobel laureate. In 2006 five young scientists from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Stavropol, Volgograd received the grants.

Scientific projects, International investigations

Scientists-members of RS/IAS actively participated in realization of many scientific and applied research projects and took part in a number of conferences with oral presentations.

For the Division of Humanitarian Sciences a Concept of convergence in XXI century a humanitarian and natural knowledge, developed by President of IAS Walter Kofler is very significant. The Division has started the development of a complex scientific direction: "Humanitarian knowledge in XXI century: fundamental and applied investigations of man, society and culture". In the frame of that direction the topics "Perspectives of man", "Thesaurus approach in humanitarian sciences", "humanitarian expertise" has become priority-driven.

The Division plans to carry on international investigations and to hold scientific meetings on problems of humanitarian knowledge and higher education, humanitarian expertise (including Ukrainian partners), preparation of monographs and publications on the topics.

The scientists of RS/IAS will take part in the meeting of Presidium of IAS and symposium in the frames of International Conference "Environment: Survival and Stable Development", which will be held in Nicosia (Northern Cyprus). The Conference will be devoted to scientific discussion and searching the ways of solving general problems of ecology, preservation of nature, technological problems of urbanized society, formation of ecological culture.

Monographs, annuals and other scientific publications of the PS/IAS

  1. A new periodical issue of the PS/IAS -"Herald of RS/IAS" (periodicity - twice in a year) was registered and started to be published. Two issues were published in 2006.
  2. The work on publication of the Second volume of International Encyclopedic issue "Who is who in the PS/IAS", where the activity of the RS/IAS (Health & Ecology) with bibliography of the members of the PS/IAS will be presented, is still in action.
  3. Division of Ecology together with M.A. Sholokhov Moscow State Pedagogical University issues quarterly Journal "Ecopedagogics". The Division continues realization of International Project "Ecological culture of the World" - publication of books about the experience of formation of ecological perception, eco-culture in Russia and other countries. In 2006 a collective monograph "Ecological culture and education: experience of Russia and Kazakhstan" (Eds. Prof. S.N. Glazachev, S.T. Shalgimbaev, Almati: "Kazak University", 2006.-504 p.) The monograph is devoted to investigation of the essence and development of pedagogical technologies of translation of values of ecological culture in individual and society, revelation the limits of permissible human's influence on biosphere and eco-systems of the Earth, legal, moral and ethic regulations of co-evolution of civilization. The nest book (jointly with Serbian scientists) is ready for publication.
  4. A set of school-books for ecological education "Ecology: auditor-practicum" (in five parts) (Authors: S.N. Glazachev, V.I. Kosonoshkin, N.V. Kargapolov, O.S. Glazachev, A.V. Gagarin, M.: M.A. Sholokhov State Pedagogical Univ., 2006. - 507 p.) was published in 2006.
  5. Division of humanitarian sciences of the RS/IAS issued a collective monograph "Humanitarian knowledge: perspectives of development in XXI century, 5 scientific collections "Thesaurus analysis of culture of the world", a joint (with Ukrainian partners) scientific project on problems of humanitarian expertise, realized under the aegis UNESCO project "Overcoming the social consequences of HIV epidemic by information and education in the field of human rights, social integration and ethic-oriented investigations.
  6. The members of the humanitarian division initiated an internet project "Russian Shakespeare" and some others.

The RS/IAS participated in organization and holding of the following scientific Forums:

  • XII International Conference "Stable World: on the way to ecologically safe civil society". Sub-Commission on ecological culture of Non-Governmental Chamber of the Russian federation together with the RS/IAS held a Section "Ecological Culture as a condition for harmonious social development". Proceedings "Ecological culture and social development"- M.: 2006. -237 p.
  • M.A. Sholokhov Moscow State Humanitarian University (Rector, member of RS/IAS Kruglov Yu.G.) together with the Division of Ecology of RS/IAS held an International Conference in Stavropol, devoted to one of the issues of the present day Education -additional education as a method of expansion of educational area of school, college, institute of higher education. Realization of UNESCO idea - "Education opened to the World". Proceedings "Additional education: present state and perspectives". Stavropol, 2006.- 148 p.
  • Second All-Russia ecological conference "New priorities of national ecological policy in a real sector of economics" Moscow 14 November, 2006 (with participation of a collective member of RS/IAS - International Independent Ecologo-Politological University, Rector, member of RS/IAS - Stepanov S.A.).
  • International Symposium "Science and Education in the Interests of Stable Development". Moscow-Zelenograd, 2006.
  • International Scientific-Practical Conference "Pharmacology and Pharmatherapy: achievements and perspectives". Makhchkala, September, 2006
  • Conference "Semiosis and Culture". Russia, Siktivkar, April, 2006
  • III International Scientific Conference "Higher Education for the XXI century". Moscow, 18-20 October 2006. The aim: to develop the strategy of higher education under conditions of new global possibilities and risks. (with participation of more than 400 scientists, managers, rectors, politicians, public figures from 11 countries and 21 cities of Russia.
  • Division of physic-technical sciences held an annual symposium "New Informational technologies in medicine" in the frame of Russian National Congress "Human and drugs". Moscow, April, 2006.

During the past 2006 year the Russian Section of IAS was actively working on further integration of scientists, creative collectives, research and educational institutes of Russia in order to cope with socially significant problems common to all mankind.
